2023 Club Championship Results
Men’s Club Championship (Blue Tees)
Mark Hittner came from seven shots back on Sunday to force a playoff and then defeated two-time defending Club Champ Rick Maxey in sudden death to capture the 2023 Diamante Men’s Club Championship.
Hittner shot rounds of 76, 79 and 73 in regulation over the 54-hole event for a 12-over par total of 228 to lead the 22-man field and follow-up his win at the Hot Springs Village Senior Championship earlier this year.
Maxey led by one shot over Hittner and Steve Secora going into the final hole in regulation, the par 5 18 th . Secora, who led the tournament the first two days with scores of 72 and 76, made bogey to finish in third place alone. Maxey, in two bunkers on the hole, then made a steely bogey to force Hittner to make par and force the playoff, the first in the club’s 27-year history.
Maxey found trouble off the tee on the first playoff hole, the 18 th at Diamante, and had to settle for bogey. With the pin on the tough right side, Hittner wedged it to 15 feet below the hole and 2-putted for par and the win.
Former Club Champ Barry Jacobsen won the net division with a three-day net total of 9-over par.
Women’s Club Championship (Green Tees)
Barbara Clark shot rounds of 94 and 90 to handily win the Diamante Women’s Club Championship by 12 shots over Lori McGhee and 15 shots over Andrea Woodside. Nikki Baker meanwhile captured the net division with a 36-hole net score of 9-over par.
Men’s Club Championship (White Tees)
Scott Moody, with a tournament-low round of 1-under par 71 on Sunday, captured the Men’s White Tee crown by six strokes over Randy Bergfield with a two-day total of 3-over par. Thad Woodside finished in third alone at 18-over par. Berfield won the net title at 2-under par.
Men’s Club Championship (Silver Tees)
Glenn Laursen beat Mark Ryan by two shots to win the Silver Tee championship with rounds of 82 and 91. Ryan won the net division with a two-day total of 5-over par.
Women’s 9-hole Club Championship
Vanessa Langlais shot 45 and 48 over two rounds to capture the women’s 9-hole club championship on October 3 – 4 with a score of 93. Connie Vaden was the overall net winner with a score of 73 in a scorecard playoff with Alice Hinckley.
Hinckley was the overall gross winner in the Bumblebee Flight with a score of 98. Kathy Carter took home low net in the Bumblebee Flight with a score of 80.
In the Honeybee Flight, Nancy Koski captured low gross with a score of 108, and Belinda Gemme took home the low net title with a score of 78.
